This weeks edition of "Who Done It!?!?!"

I'm pretty sure those are repeated slash marks from your ATF. In my experience I've seen the same type of injuries inflicted by my pack of ATF. It doesn't look like the atf bite of you think it's the result of one or two goes. It's actually an accumulation of aggressive fly bys. I think your tarpon is a bit too small to fend for itself in that tank. Underclassed in everyway possible. My advice is take out the tarpon.. Also in my past experience, hoplias really didn't get along with specifically goonch for some reason. Almost suffered a tailless goonch as well but traded before it suffered the same fate.

I think it's the goonch. Wolf should leave more penetrating marks and not so much roughed up scales. Some chunks should be missing.

Atf should leave some clean marks.

Could see the goonch kind of holding the tarpon and chewing on it a bit.

I think the atf is the least likely culprit. If it was only a head or tail wound perhaps but I've never seen atf take side shots causing abrasions/wounds like that. Mine eats large tilapia slices and strikes them on the ends. I'd say goonch of even ray hunting when the lights go out.

Lol my VATF does it to the smaller GATF and even the big GATF on a weekly basis. The damage caused it relative to the teeth structure. My guess is deduced from the fact that the hoplias and goonch will have a difficult angle to grasp the tarpon from its topside whereas I have observed mine striking from the top/side frequently.

I imagine the goonch thinks of the tarpon as masheer or carp.

goonch are known for stripping scales and fins, they will also strike at wired angles, i think its a strong candidate. at night they cruse around like a shark

I have to agree with green, I can see two bite marks both to thin to be a wolf for sure, and as kno4te stated the wolf would probably puncture more, ime with my wolfs biting other fish, it's always clear its them, it's one wide clear bite mark and I've always been able to make out the teeth etc, I don't think it's the wolf. As for goonch I'm not sure how their bite marks are, I've no experience with them, Ik they have some nice teeth as well, if they don't have as good a grip as wolves I can see that being a possibility, but other wise I think it was the atf.

My guess is atf. Before I mysteriously lost my vaft he would constantly leave marks such as these on my cigar sharks

have u tried to interrogate any of the fish yet? i think its the goonch...its always the quiet ones.

I would say ATF.. My GATF leaves similar marks in my tarpon and he chases him around as if he's fighting with another ATF.
