David,
I have a read a few posts that you have posted in, you seem to have quite some experience in the Thorichthys area. Which Thorichthys is the least aggressive but still have alot of color?

I was thinking of putting a couple with my Blue Dempseys.
Hi BlueKiller,

I can not really comment on which is the least aggressive but Juan Miguel Artigas recently wrote an article about throichthys, he listed from most to least aggressive: Meeki, Pasionis, Aureus, Affinis, Maculipinnis, callolepis, Helleri and Socolofi.

You would have troubles finding Socolofi, It was very hard for me to get my 12 Socolofi, only ones in the UK:naughty:

I would recommend reading Juan Miguel Artigas article it is really good, which pictures of each species in the wild. It is called, Thorichthys, aquatic living treasures of the Mayan land. And can be bought here:

Also more articles on Thorichthys and other cichlids can be found here:

I honestly think those two pictures are the exact same fish just under different lighting/flash conditions. The face patterns, although the fish is going in different directions, is the same (not similar) on both fish.

I currently own T. Helleri "gold Veil" they are a pretty passive cichlid with only Mild aggression.

Yes both fish are the same fish mate, how are your Helleri getting on? also btw there just Helleri, there is no gold veils or anything for Helleri.

Don conkel sold them as such. I have a male and a friend has a female. The rest went to the LFS. The gold color blew up.

Are these the same wild caught from Lago de Illusiones? If so they were sold as aureus right, Jaun ID'd them as Helleri.

Any pics?
