So after browsing this site for quite some years now last week out of nowhere I kept seeing references to this fish, I had never even heard of. Google image search really wasnt that great and from what I can tell its a yellow firemouth.

Is this a new discovery? or an underlooked species that wasnt readily imported til recently.

If any of you guys have them I would love to see pics of them at all sizes or possibly some information on them!

I am really intrigued by this species so thanks in advance everyone!

I had a pair until recently. You're pretty much dead on, they are basically a yellow firemouth. They are a little more shy and less aggressive than a firemouth IME. They are not new to the hobby, just not commonly seen.
 
thanks buddy, you always seem to have the answers :P it really is a beautiful fish. would be nice to keep some with firemouths :P
hopefully some guys can post some pics :D
 
Just be careful about hybridizing if you want to mix them with firemouths. I've also found firemouths to be more aggressive. I never got a good picture of mine, I'll see if I can dig up a crappy one.

Wow thats awesome, is that them with a regular firemouth to the left? its like Yin and Yang, the Passiones seems to have a light base colour as apposed to the dark firemouth.

Thanks, they were briefly in with that male firemouth but had to be divided due to the firemouth being overly aggressive. It was only a 48x12" tank so that was likely a factor as well.
