Thorycthys Meeki-Cichlasoma Festae with pics.

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Well, the Firemouth is NOT shy, goes all over the tank like he owns it. The Festae is more shy and barely eats. Actually since i got the FM he/she has been eating alot more. If there will be any trouble, i will seperate, no big problem.
I will take that bet.

Is the Festae a he or a she?

At that size they should last a while together. I had an 11 inch female and she never messed with firemouths as they were never a threat to her I guess.

from looking at it it looks female but it can be hard to tell at that size..

I have a wild caught male and F1 female Meeki with a wild cuaght Festae, living fine together, BUT my meeki is slightly bigger than yours, hes just under 7":

So are we allowed to place bets on how many days or weeks it's going to be until the Firemouth gets the absolute crap beaten out of it?

I'm going with 4 days.

I think they'll be fine....but you never know I guess.

^ i agree they are all bark no bite, and they are cowards.

They're all bark and no bite but they're not cowards. That's a contradictory statement. They start stuff that they can't back up is their problem. Every FM I've owned has gotten itself killed that way.

i've had firemouths before in a large CA/SA community tank and it was all show and gill flaring but never actually fought with another fish. it never had a mark on it. however, this tank has a female festae in it, and i don't think it would take any crap from the FM

keep us posted and let us know how they're gettig along

Day 10 in the tank togother.
Situation: Goody.
Both are doing fine and barely flirt.
