Those feeding pellets, what do you use?

I order sinking food sticks from Kensfish earthworm sticks, vegetable sticks which I feed the polys and purple wolf. Alternate the sticks with tilapia chunks. The food sticks have a very mild odor unlike massivore lol.:) You could alternate the massivore with the food sticks only feeding massivore once to give you a break from the smell.

I ordered some more Northfin 6mm since it is a clean pellet and the fish seem to like it. I also have a sample of 10mm carnivore coming so I can compare it to massivore.

Massivore massivore massivore ....... Oh and um massivore :) and some tilapia lol I will never sway from massivore never ever i have seen to many times what it does to fish u want a small fish to grow super fast and thick ..... Then load it up wit massivore lol works wonders lol ...... Example from a old thread of mine I had a cb endli got it at 1 1/2" and 2 months later it was 8-10" ........ Massivore all day :)

I have used NLS pellets which looks identical to massivores except it's hard like a brick. NLS stink less than massivores but still stink up the room if the fish don't eat it right away. I don't run carbon in my filtration therefore there is no way for the smell to go away unless I do a large waterchange. I have tried sinking gold which is pretty good without stinking up the tank but way too small for the big bichirs to eat. I am back to giving them tilapia which is less stink as long as they finish up all the tilapia pieces within 10mins. If they is one or two pieces left behind I can gaurantee u the water will stink the next day. I stuff pellets in the tilapia once a month so they can get nutrients not found in tilapia.

I have had good result feeding Ken spiralina pellets but again it's too small for the bigger bichirs to eat.

Got my Northfin Carnivore (10mm) sample and it is a hard type flattened pellet. I worry about acceptance because of this and will wait to try it on really hungry fish, lol. My endli (18") would not have an issue with it but my others even in the 15" range may have a difficult time with it compared to the softer Massivore that they can work at a little and wolf it down.

I decided to also try the Northfin Krill Gold 6mm. Still waiting on that to come in. The size bracket should be perfect since they already like the 6mm Jumbo but the krill formula is made up of 85% krill as the first ingredient whereas most fish foods you would find the wheat or grain products to be much higher than they say with the actual 'meat' really being quite low. This stuff is expensive in comparison so I will think long and hard before making it a staple.

In the past Ive use dainichi quite extensively, but have pretty much stopped due to availability. Its price range is in there with Northfin and NLS but not as easy to find, at least the 'medium' sized pellets. I do have some different vendors now to choose from so I may try this on them.

Will post more when I actually feed some of these pellets. In the meantime I have been finishing off the Hikari stuff and it just makes the water reek. So lots of water changes and heavy feeding... probably going to see a huge growth spurt in them all now.

If hikari sinking gold come in larger pellets like 8mm it would be perfect. My bichirs love sinking gold but have a hard time finding it to eat. If u come across someone selling diced tilapia let me know. Cutting tilapia weekly does take time to do. :-(

I know I'm the odd man out, but I feed my polys, dat, and large cichlids Tetra Jumbomin. My dat won't touch massivore and it clouds my water. On the other hand, my fish LOVE this stuff and it's easy to wean onto because they resemble dried krill.

It does seem to tint my water yellow faster than other pellets, but research has shown that extra humins in the water can aid in fish health so I don't worry about it.

Mine eat pretty much anything I throw in the tank. They get mostly massivore, shrimp, tilapia, hake. I occasionally feed them sera arowana pellets that I turn to sinking pellets by removing the air with a syringe. If you have a less smelly floating pellet, this may be something to consider
