Nearly every dollar store near me has fine mesh nets about 12" diameter on a 4' bamboo handle.My 9 year old son used one all summer to catch frogs fish etc it didnt break under some pretty rough usage

you don't want the mesh too fine or the net too short, otherwise you can't pull it through the water quickly

hey, i found this big one on cabelas for the same price and with rope..
Will it be better in catching more fish than the basspro one?

i was wondering, what's the best method to catch minnows? Like guppys, bass, bluegill, crappie?
Should I chase them from behind? Or like leave a piece of a nightcrawler on the net and as soon as everybody gangs up pull up?

if your using an umbrella net,like i said before,check out my bait bags in my diy thread.
bass and others,good luck.there not dumb and not slow.
for mosquito fish i keep the umb net at the top of the water,for cats and other stuff let it sit on the bottom.

you can catch catfish too? i mean how big?? can they break the net while trying to escape? and what do you mean by let it sit on the bottom..for a few hours at night/day or do you leave them in the water overnight with like some bait?

and do the umbrella nets sink fast? or do i have to put some weight like you did(the bio filter looking things..)

i have caught cats and all kinds of stuff.
no 10lb ones tho "i have caught nothing bigger then 5" maybe"
im sure if a monster got in the net it would break,but i dont see that happening.
let it set for a few min,pull up fast,not to fast to break it tho.you will figure it out if you get one.
sinks kinda fast,i did not add weights,bio things?white bags?those are bait bags.
