those little small snails?

I have some in my bichir tank to keep the sand moving around and I never see them. If I happen to see one cruising up the side of the glass I know I've missed a waterchange. good indicator!
 
When i recently put in some java moss in my tank, i saw a single snail. I have no idea what kind it is, except that my googlage has shown it most similar to the Physa snail. which, if it is, makes me a bit sad, because aquaguide says those snails do nothing about algae. any ides on what other common snail it might be? it had a dark brown shell with whitish flesh. i haven't seen it ever since that one time and i don't think i'm going to dig around my gravel to find it.
 
My spiny eel eats mine and the rest I put in a tank to breed them as dwarf puffer food.
 
They don't really bother me except the fact that they won't stop breeding!!!!
Last week when I cleaned the tank I pulled out about 50....and it's a 10g tank.
