Those that have been to Shedd Aq, what did you think?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I recently went to Shedd Aquarium and I would have to say that All in All it was just OK.
I found it very frustrating having to deal with rude people shoving their way to the front.
I also was very disappointed in with the types and amounts of SA/CA Cichlids.

well honestly i havent been to any really outstanding aquariums, but i thought shedds was pretty cool-ive been there twice. i loved how it was broken down by the different parts of the world and i loved their puffer display.. i liked petting the stingrays, though i got yelled at for petting a baby shark-he was in the display pool WITH the rays, so i figured you could pet him too.. he liked it.. lol

I'm glad someone agreed. I was starting to feel like an ass. :D Even better that we had similar thoughts on it. Yours was just minus all the "blah blah" lol.

The thing you have to think about is that Shedd has been going since before the Great Depression. It was started by bringing saltwater in on rail cars because it wasn't able to be made at that point. A lot of the newer places are using newer building styles and updated methods. Shedd has connected the old and the new.

That's true. I was more upset with the fish, lack thereof, and labeling. It's still worth going to see. Hell, any aquarium is worth going and seeing for me, and if I was in the area again, I'd go again.

I had a blast at shedd, more than GA even. I think I enjoyed the oddballs and kept out of the publics way because I don't care about the salt water stuff.

Visiting aquariums all over the world is something I just love to do. I've been to more than i can list. Shedd is impressive having the most diverse range of fish I have ever seen and everything is nicely displayed. I am a saltwater person so Monterey Bay still takes the cake for me.

dude at the stingray symposium we went behind seens and there was some really good stuff a alligator gar another giga more black pacu redtail cat and a jau catfish

which i got to feed the jau and it was FREAKING AWESOME.

they did not lable the fish right yes kinda because alot of people would not know what they were so they put easy names.
