If you haven't seen them already there are two thought provoking and extremely contoversial documentaries currently showing on netflix. They are called "seaspiracy" and "cowspiracy".

Seaspiracy deals with the subject of sustainable ocean resources and cowspiracy deals with the effect that global agriculture has on the environment. Both are pretty eye opening. They remind me very much of the "an inconvenient truth" documentary that came out a few years ago.

You hear little from "the other side" as a balance to the arguments put forward, and as a result a lot of people are sceptical of programmes like these, but even so it's pretty compelling stuff.

Well worth a watch if you can get them.

I personally watched half a episode of Seaspiracy and it was a bit tough to watch. Extremely saddened by how much plastic and garbage are in our oceans. Also how the reefs are being lost by overfishing and the aquarium trade. I don't know if the documentary is staged or not because the reporter/spy may be risking his life.

He is indeed putting his neck on the line, that becomes even more apparent in cowspiracy. Extremely vocal activists have been shot dead in the street. If you believe everything that these programme makers claim are going on, it's safe to say that these"conspiracies"go right to the top. And they're all untouchable. They have bottomless pits of money to fight any claim that is thrown their way. They 100% control the narrative. And for those who continue to scratch away, well, they disappear.

I'll give them a try.I haven't tuned in to netflix in over a month due to frustration from not being able to find anything on there that calls or holds my attention.

I'm pretty much the same. I've watched all the stuff on netflix that appeals to me, and enjoyed a lot of their stuff. But there seems to be very little new stuff coming through, that appeals to me anyway. I stumbled across seaspiracy by accident, loved it, and then a couple of nights later I saw cowspiracy, recognised it was similarly titled to seaspiracy and on checking it was the same guy, so I watched it.

I think you'll enjoy them both, but for me it's cowspiracy that is the real eye opener.

Oddly,on my screen only Cowspiracy is listed in the documentary section, there is no sign of the other one which is what I wanted to watch first.....

Found it.....and it was too depressing to continue on with.

I'll be sure to recommend a light hearted comedy next time, lol.
LOL,crime drama or action.. .after about ten minutes of watching, the show had covered a lot of stuff that I was already aware of.I had forgotten about the guy who was trying to expose the whale and dolphin slaughter in Japan.
I will give Cowspiracy a look later on today perhaps.

Something else which caught my eye last night on netflix is a series called "Rotten". It seems to focus on the food industry. I believe there are two seasons and each episode of each season concentrates on one particular food and the "problems" which that particular food causes. Last night I watched episode one of season one and it delved into the unlikely trouble that the lowly avocado causes. Extremely eye opening. Severe water shortages, gangs wielding guns, grown men crying! Oh yeah, it's all going on in the avocado world.

If all the other episodes in the two seasons are similar then I think it should be quite good. Though if my other recommendations are anything to go by.......well. lol.
