Thoughts about college/university.

it also depends on the specific feild and location of where you are too.

for example, in my area (greater toronto), in my feild (wastewater treatment) no one even gets an interview without post secondary education.

however, if you go to a northern ontario town for instance, someone could probably get in with just high school, because the quality of the applicant pool will be a lot less.

I do believe that as each year passes, it gets more and more difficult to get a good paying job with just high school.

people always talk about Bill Gates and his dropping out, but you need to remember two things:

1. that was 30 years ago

2. he dropped out of Harvard, arguably the top university on the planet. people saw the name Harvard and didn't care that he dropped out LOL.

him getting in was good enough! :)

Well, that, and he helped pioneer a new industry that has since then become crucial for maintaining our current system of living. Without computers (especially personal computers), everything would take much longer to accomplish.

everything is just my opinion here.

but i believe education should be free for all. going to college doesnt mean it will get you a job. it only improves yourself .College is just a business that's all it is. It's what you do with the information that's given to you. many people have degrees but dont have jobs. some regret wasting all those years of school. many people also have no degree's but have lots of skills and experience from working all those years instead of going to college. experience is a lot better than that piece of paper. nowadays everything you can learn in college you can learn yourself thru the internet, books and what not. by the time you graduate your most likely not gonna remember crap from all those years of school if anything just a lil bit. once you get a job they will train you and teach you what you need to learn and do, not what you learned from years of school. tons of people have great jobs without a degree. they prolly have good connections skills and experience. some of the majors they require you to take BS classes thats isnt even related to your major but yet you have to take them...its a waste of time and of your money.if you go to college and you gotta pay. you better pick a major thats high in demand or atleast finish and graduate. if not good luck paying off debts or wasting all that money. society just brainwashes you to believe that college is the only way to succeed.
