Say, if I were to fully convert my 250 gallon tank to a school of angelfish tank, how many can I put there? It's a planted 84"x32"x24". It already house 50 neon tetras, 3 pearl and blue gouramis and 20 pink skirt tetras.

General rule of thumb is each fish requires about 10 gallons so quite a few. Say a dozen to 15 or so depending on the species selected as some grow larger than others. Buy them small and the neons might not become snacks as they do feed on them in the wild....

I think a tank that size would make and amazing display for a large group of angels! Very cool display for sure!!

Ooops! I forgot that I'd put the angels with a school of Denison barbs and a single giant gourami. Still not sure really but someone gave me the idea to keep the GG in my planted and it sounded cool. My GG does not feed on fish or bully other fish of any size. It also does not eat aquarium plants, weirdly though it eats lettuce.

I have 4 Pinoy Blue's in with 6 Denison's in a 90 and they seem to get along very well. I still think you could do a larger group depending on how many Denisons you get. 8-12 would still seem reasonable species dependent.....

tank that size you can fit 15-20 angels. used to have 8 large altum angels and 11 large roselines in my 135g. if you're not sure just add about 10. and see what you think. if you think its not enough you can always add more. and i say def go with wild angelfish. pref altums, if not some wild peruvians would look nice.

I have 12 Wild Peruvian Scalare (Rio Nanay) in a 225 and I thik that's just about right. You could go to 15 but after that it's over kill IMO. These guys get pretty big. Altums are nice too but the season for young fish passed. You can get some larger ones now but they are little pricey. I like growing out fish from a small size so larger fish don't have much of an appeal to me. Around Sepetember you can get small fry 3-4mm for about $20.00 each. I keep all three species of Angelfish, all wild cought fish.

These are a couple of my Peruvian Scalare. I really love the look of wild Scalare. I'm just not a big fan of domestics.

These are a couple of my wild cought P. Leopoldi smaller but very active angelfish. Thes guys are awsome and not often seen in the hobby but well worth keepeing IMO.

This a couple P. Altum Rio Inirida growouts. These are 2012 fry, these pics are from a few months ago, but you can see the differance between them and the other two species.

Thanks guys! I have no access to WC angels here in China. Another question: Is driftwood a must? Driftwood here is more expensive than my tank!

Sorry I didn't realize you were in China. To answer your question, no driftwood is not a must.

Angel tanks are awesome.. i don't think there is a more beautiful graceful colorful cichlid then angels.. and all together is really the best way to show them off..

I used to have 8-9 angels in my 450g. They never really schooled, some of them paired up and swam together but for the most part they where just randomly spaced throughout the tank.
