Thoughts on a school of angelfish in a 250 gallon?

Brian those are some beautiful fish you have. I have noticed in large speces tanks similar to mine you will get the classic scholing behavior. Especially among wild cought fish. Angelfish don't school in the classic sense of the word but they will form a schole. Mine will pair up too while the rest of the group stays together and at times they just disperse throughout the tank and do their own thing.

I used to have 8-9 angels in my 450g. They never really schooled, some of them paired up and swam together but for the most part they where just randomly spaced throughout the tank.

Wow! First, that is one nice, well-maintained, beautiful tank! 4 large arowanas! I see the angels are kinda dispersed. I fear that the size of my tank will make them mark territories for each pair thus preventing the schooling effect. Do you think maintaining a single large fish will make them school together? My research told me that for other schooling fish, some form of predator relationship makes them stick together. I am referring to the GG though he does not really bully or eat other fish.

Will putting my long leaf plants in one area keep them together? I heard they like to lay eggs in these plants.

At first the angels will see the gg as a threat. But they are smart and will soon figure out there is no threat

15-20 is a good amount but it may be good to swap the neons for cardinals as the neons maybe hunted with so many angels
