Thoughts on introducing a female pearl pup with a 10" male

Hi guys, iv had my male pearl for about a year now and he's a good 10" across his disc. Iv recently added a bd male pup (only 4" disc) and they get along fine... though I really want a female pearl to go with him. I'm in the uk and iv been looking for ages trying to find a female the same size but they're hard to come by at that size... question is do you think it would be safe to add a female pup to the tank or do you think a 10" male would maul her to death? He's not mature yet and he gets on fine with the baby bd male, but would he be different with a female? I could get a pup and grow her out first but just wondered what your thoughts were. Can you add a small divider first? And be ready to add adivider if he mauls her.

As Toby said, I would place behind a divider until the pup is 8" diameter then they will be fine. But be prepared for her to get beaten on when she starts to mature and the older male wants to mate. At this point you may have to separate again.
