He's been keeping more big fish longer in bigger tanks. I really can't critize.

These fish need to be treated like an animal shelter if they aren't adopted in a certain amount of time then....

I think what he does is unbelievable. Multiple 1000 gallon plus tanks, a 58,000 gallon pond, multiple 1000 gallon holding ponds just to house fish that he may not even want in the first place. His dedication to the hobby is unmatched. His tanks are heavily stocked but his systems filtration can handle it (1000s of gallons in itself). Fish all look healthy and they are given a better home then what all members of this forum could offer. If I was him, I would have a weekly fish fry to reduce some of the stock  What he has accomplished is absolutely incredible. A few members here have appreciated his work such as Vincent who I saw recently donated some high end fish to him.

I think he overstocks tanks.

I think he is a hoarder of fish.

I think he feeds hotdogs to fish.

I think he cannot provide proper care to all those fish and it's board line animal abuse. He can't even take care of himself let alone the fish.

I also think he sends the wrong message. About buying and keeping monster fish.
I think someone may be jealous. Tell me you don’t like hot dogs then I’ll think otherwise.

As long as he can afford to take care of the fish then I do not see why they would need to be put down after a certain period of time. Am I the only one that sees no reason as to why they should be put down if not adopted in a certain amount of time?
On that note, I believe that it could be beneficial for him to have a set date perhaps each year or each 6 months where he does a showcase of all the fish he has for adoption and make it public. Perhaps on here where a lot of people would see it. If he could find a shipping company that would be willing to ship such large fish then there would be the possibility of being able to ship the adoptees to people that are not in his home state of Ohio. There would have to be something in it for the shipping company if they were doing it for free so I'm just spit balling but I'm thinking he could give them a shout when adoption time comes around and perhaps even on his youtube videos.

Once again I'm just thinking outloud, feel free to comment on my hypothetical scenario/situation I painted above.

Someone commented that this thread was created to dish Big Rich. I didn't get that at all. I am glad to read the positive comments.
As far as the one highly negative response I think this is an aberration and not worthy of response.
Well the op is also the one who threw out the highly negative response” so one can only presume the original intent was not a positive one. But agreed, this has been turned around and is highly supportive of B.R.’s rescue efforts.

True. You have a point there. And we are all entitled to opinions. So everyone get's a say. Which I like...even if I don't agree.
He asked what we thought, and thou shall receive!

I think what he does is great. Numerous large tanks for fish that would normally suffer in Mr. Impulse buy's "big" 75 gallon tank. He puts alot of effort into what he does from the numerous large tanks all the way to the cross country driving to pick up these fish so they can have a better life.

Let's see, my two options are swim around in a confined space in my own bodily waste until I die a slow death from toxicity, or end up with Rich and eat hot dogs for the rest of my life?

Yeah, gonna have to go with door #2.
