Thoughts On RTC sheding Slime Coat Every 3 Days

Okay, okay, I get it! LOL. Maybe you're right on your theory. As for water hardness, even if you fixed it in this tank, I'm guessing you use tap water in what ever tanks they're going to go in, so they're going to have to get used to it, eventually. I was going to suggest that you might want to mix rainwater in with your tapwater if you live away from a big city, but that gets way more difficult with bigger volumes, and would be impossible in the 1000 gallons the RTC is going to eventually need. So, I would agree, and say they're stuck with it.

Wow.... talk about a mind read. LOL. I was just talking to a buddy about building some rain barrels with filtration and an over flow that will run into my basement drain for the 1000 gallon stock tank he is going to have to go into. Your Good!!!

Cool... that sounds like a nice setup. I couldn't even envision the amount of work it would take to get enough rainwater to mix for such a big volume. I hope it works... in that case, go ahead and start them off on the mix as soon as you can! I wish I could use rainwater, but I don't trust ours because it's so populated here, and one actually lives in the city they work in, it seems, so there's a ton of traffic.

The boondocks do have their advantages... If the following years are at all like this one I will be no problem do quantities of large water changes. I could even begin to express the amount of water we have seen.

Is this the fellow in question in your avatar? He's adorable.

Mine's named Guido. Also unmatched for awesomeness. :grinno:

Yeah I need to get pics of the other fish put up... once I get some time. All are monsters and wouldn't have it any other way. 1 red tail, 1 TSN, 1 Marble Pim, and 1 ID shark. The list just keeps growing as I keep finding more fish I like
