Specifically taking about the 48" model.

I ran this on my 75G planted when it was up. Things went fairly well, until the tank seam came apart on me.

Now to the topic. Would this be any good for a 30" tall tank? I might be getting a new/used tank. If I do, it will be a planted tank. I have all the CO2 goodies if necessary. I'm wanting to do a low-medium light setup. Nothing special.

Only thing I know I will want in there as of now will be some contortion (corkscrew) val and probably some decent looking moss for the driftwood.

I'm not a fan of the light output from those fixtures. As to a 30" tank, you would be in the low light range.

Ok, That's what I was thinking. I just have it sitting around and was curious if it might work. I'll be shooting for the low to med light plants.

Crap. Now I have to buy another light.

I don't have that style, (have the t5 double bulb), but the concern I would have with those fixtures is that the lights don't go all the way across the housing.

Should be totally fine for what you're growing. I wouldn't buy a CFL if you were buying a new fixture, but since you already have I dont see a reason not to use it. Put the money towards plants. ;)

if you already have that fixture like other have said, use it. but for that price i rather get a t5 from like catalina or something much better built and cheaper. but use what you have.

For those that said this will work, read a little more carefully. This will not constitute anything but low light.

That's all he knows he wants, not the only thing he wants. He does, for sure, want a low-medium light setup.
