Just in the last couple days I noticed these lumps on the side of my fish. I think they got bigger since I first noticed. The fish is still acting normal, actively swimming eating and then begging for more food. None of the other fish have anything like this. They all eat the same things and have for the last 5 months or so. They all came out of the same place with the exception of one. I haven’t watched long enough to see it poop but I haven’t noticed any weird poop when I clean the tank. I added a heater and I will slowly raise the temperature a few degrees in the next few days to see if it clears up.

Lumpy is still eating and acting normal. None of the other fish are showing anything like the lumps. They don’t seem to be bothering him so I’m not too worried about him for now, obviously I’d like them to go away but as long as Lumpy is swimming and eating normally it seems fine.

Spoke a little too soon. Today I checked on lumpy and the one of the left side is basically gone. But the 2 on the other side are worse looking. Like almost bursting. Idk if this got moved to a different forum if it would get more attention? I just want lumpy to be okay

Can't say I have any idea of what those are, but if you can't diagnose it, a medicinal treatment of salt may(?) help. My Green Sunfish gets either HITH, or something that resembles it, every couple of months and adding a tablespoon of salt for every 5 gallons of new water seems to clear it up within a few days.

The one that looked like it busts has healed up and went back to looking normal but the other one one that same side is still swollen.

I just went and checked on Lumpy and the one on his side is looking like the one that got bad and now he has a new lump on his head. Idk what’s going on. He still seems completely fine with all of this going on. Even when it was an open sort of wound he never became lethargic or anything.

Have you tried posting this in the disease/health forum? You might get some more helpful/educated responses there. I hope your fish heals up soon, glad to hear that it's still active, that's always a good sign!

I asked for thread to get moved but never heard back. The one on his side got bad and healed quickly. Now the one on his head is the only one I see but it looks like it’s close to popping. But if it does I’m confident he’ll heal up and be fine. Waters clean with plenty of oxygen and warm.

Perhaps some type of parasite (worm type) has "hatched" and left it's host. Seems like the site heals over quickly. Are your fish wild caught?
