Thoughts on this BS?

I have a friend who will find this on the net...because he finds everything on the net...and he will believe it...because he believes everything he reads. He will then attempt to goad me into a discussion/debate/argument about it. He will succeed at this...because I simply can't read and hear limitless amounts of ridiculous BS without eventually rising to the bait and engaging him. The fact that I do so only serves to piss me off even further...it's a vicious cycle...

I am just so weary of attempts to make me feel guilty for being alive and breathing...

I solved the world's energy crisis by overstocking my single African Cichlid tank.

Well you've gone and done it now. How can we educate the future young uns of the hobby regarding the potential perils of overstocking, when they can now proudly blast back at us that they're saving the planet!!! Lol.

I would rather have a planet in the future then slightly elevated nitrates. Lets chose our battles wisely. I opt to let my fish swim in poison than allow my children not have any air to breath.

Careful! Beware! Think about what you are saying!

The next logical step in the campaign to make you feel guilty for existing...is to point out the carbon-production costs of...children!

Ok, so cat: 250kg/year
400l fish tank: 635 kg/year
One crotchfruit: 58,000 kg/year

That means by not having children I'm saving roughly 122,000kg
So, I could have 488 cats or 192 fishtanks.

(That 58 tonnes number seems to be the most common claim, but then others saying much lower or ranges where it's the top. But I'll go with it anyway)

I saw this article yesterday and thought it would pop up here soon enough.
I read some of the comments and they were generally saying the article was crap too and also not to keep goldfish in bowls.
It’s more disappointing as I find the guardian a decent newspaper, I read it for some good reporting on the Ukraine war and music and cooking stuff. They consider themselves a serious news outlet and rely on donations a lot so it’s not good seeing them stoop to this level of nonsense.
