I’ve tried the aquamax in the past. They’re mixed with sinking and floating pellets. I got them from Family Pets in Portland. They sell them by the pound. Call to ask if they still have them before stopping by. Just try it out first before committing to this whopping 25lbs. Lol

AquaMax is low grade farm feed. Read the ingredients, goes from fishmeal, to Poultry By-Product Meal, Soybean meal, Ground Corn, Wheat Middlings, blah-blah-blah The only reason that many fish even hit this feed is due to the animal blood inclusion. I would also not feed a food that has a minimum of 12% crude fat, as a staple, to a fish that are anything but high energy swimmers.

Sweet! Freshwater Canadian Lake Smelt is the best option for whole fish. It just stinks! Lol.

Just review the ingredients on the aquamax. It’s a pretty gnarly list they use. I recall one of them being hydrolized chicken feathers. Here’s how nutritiously yummy this is. Lol.

Like anything else in life, you get what you pay for. Quality feed costs $$$, but because it is nutrient dense, one can typically feed a lot less compared to the farm feed. I have posted about another bulk feed option here in the past, let me find it.

This should take you to the thread. Keep in mind that I have not personally used this feed, but on paper it certainly looks better than Aquamax, or some of the Zeigler stuff that Viktor uses. No offense Viktor. lol

I first posted about Otohime food on MFK several yrs ago, before anyone here had even heard of it. This was also back when I was still selling fish food myself. Hmmmmm, whatever was I thinking?

It's a Japanese based farm feed. Below is a more recent post on this food.
