sweet! make sure to post some pics once you get them :)
Sarah i will. It probably won't be until next Friday. The Oblongums are pretty mellow so I don't really sse a problem with the mix plus when I had my Gymno's the Oblongums only colored up when I raised the water Temp and I;ve been doing some research on them and they seem to do better at slightly higher water Temp so I'm going to set the tank at 78-80 and see how it goes with the Geo's.

Well after reading some of the above posts I have decided to go with 5 Geophagus Megasema that are around 4-4.5 inches and leave the A. Oblongums in the tank and see how that goes.

An excellent choice IMO. You can always add more fish later if there's room.

I'm terribly overstocked, otherwise I'd jump on those G. megasema. Do post pictures :)

Thanks for the vote of confidence. I'm a little scared to get new fish at this point. I've been keeping fish for years and never had a disease outbreak like the one I had with my Gymno's. I will never keep them again after all the money I spent on medication treating this bacteria infection. I just hope i have better luck with the regular Geophagus this time around. The Oblongums are alone in the tank at the moment and really like all the space.

sounds boring, you need a centre piece.

I think the geos will be the center piece. You could probably add a severum or a chocolate cichlid if you want to, but in my opinion, I think that geos are more eye-catching anyways. I'm anxious to see pics when you get it set up.

To many similar fish, I would go with a pair of Festivum for the upper levels and a solo male Rotkeil Severum.

Dont go for a pair of the Acaras, they get nasty when breeding...like slightly smaller GT's.
