Thoughts on UV Sterilizers?

Hi all,
Thinking of getting a UV sterilizer for my 75 gallon bare bottom that is home to 4 morbidly obese goldfish who are quite messy. I have a FX5 loaded with matrix, and 2 406s, yet the water still is not as clear as it could be. I bought a cheap "green killing machine" UV sterilizer off of amazon that markedly improved water clarity, but broke after 2 months. I'm considering a Coralife turbo-twist UV sterilizer to run in-line from one of my 406s, but then I'm thinking that I would be introducing another opportunity for something to spring a leak...your thoughts on the value of UV sterilizers and/or the best types/brands would be greatly appreciated.

I have four, three 9w & one 36w. I use the 9w for algae control & the 36w for parasites.

I have a SunSun CUP-609 9 Watt UV Pump/Filter from http://www.americanaquariumproducts.com/InternalUVSterilizer.html

Works fine, keeps water clean in terms of algae bloom. Easy to use, just drop in the tank and plug it in. I used it on and off for the past year. So far so good.

UV filters work great, but I think purigen works better.

I just set up a 180 gallon & my "fish guy" told me to get 2 40W UV's to get enough watts to control everything all the way up to ick. (No he did not sell me them!) I chose the 3/4 inch long bulbs instead of the 2 inch wider, shorter bulbs so I get more contact bulb to water.

i have one on my 120 and it is as clear is can be. im really happy with it so far.

I'd rather have it and not need it than need it and don't have one, and Im currently using the odyssea brand from aquatraders.
