Thread resurrection.

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
If that is the case then ignore the report. Thank you for telling me that Hendre.

Ah, the necrothread. Personally, I don't see the need to do anything with those old ones. I can imagine some negative results from locking those threads, making them inaccessible; I can't really think of any harm that can come from accidentally or intentionally resurrecting one. Certainly there are multpile legitimate reasons why someone might want to bring one back up for continued discussion.

People post information every few months, such as that on various scams etc. If anything regarding the information in the thread changes it can be edited, but otherwise it will stay open for now.

Good call. I can understand the points made, but dont see a need for such monitoring or governance.

I don't see a problem with bumping old threads but it is kind of funny when the threadbumper quotes and replies to someone who hasn't been active on here in years.

This is exactly what i'm referring to. I agree that old threads have value, if brought up for the right reasons. And a system should never be put in place that deletes or makes it impossible to resurrect threads from the archive, no matter how old they are.

But the vast majority of the very old threads that are resurrected are not by someone genuinely trying to revive an old subject, but by newbies clumsily finding their way through the site.

Yes, it's all innocent and doesn't cause grief, a bit of banter usually ensues, no harm done. But I can't help feeling that it could be better, if not for anything else but for the poor newbie who's first post is to resurrect a thread from before they were born!

It's been a good discussion anyway. I think myself and Niki_up Niki_up need to start looking at thread dates more before we start to engage in conversation. Lol.

I guess it's just not important enough for me complain about it either way.
