Three new dats

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
very nices, seems like alot of people have been geting dats lately

Took a few more pictures. The original Indo seems to have gotten used to their presence and isn't chasing them at all, and they all ate a bit at feeding time (though not much, as they spent a good amount of time hiding from the lights when I turned them on). I swear these guys know just when to turn sideways to face you right as you've got them lined up for a photo. I also think that the flash affects them more than any other type of fish that I own. I just can't seem to get any good shots... they never look anywhere near as good in photos as in real life. (One pic that is especially ruined by the flash is the one with the little silver following the big silver. He gets completely washed out by the flash.)

Lights out time now, hopefully they'll have a happy first night in the new tank.

Everyone got through the first night happily and all three new guys look like they belong in the tank. Pretty happy about that.

Now if only the big AT would get fully stable again. I am hoping he is just laying low until his right fin grows back to 100%. Pretty sure the green terror beat him up (GT has since been removed). The fin has mostly recovered but is still not all the way back. He is eating, though, which is good, and swimming around a lot more, but has a ways to go to be back to the food aggressive krill eating machine he once was. Now he usually just swims around ignoring the krill until there's only one piece left for him to eat. It's weird watching him go past it, it's almost as if he's farsighted, and can't see what it is when it's right in front of his face. He's still just as picky as ever though - will sometimes accidentally eat bloodworm and then spit it out. He will only eat the big pink chunks of shrimp or krill, which is weird, because the other dats all love bloodworm.

I am sure he'll be fine after he fully recovers. AT's are probably the biggest pigs of all teh Dat species, so it wont be long before he's eating a ton again.

Yeah, I'm pretty optimistic about him. I was scared the first day he lost color, just because he was cowering in the corner, but that was before I could see that his fin was damaged. He was obviously just protecting it.

The new guys are all pigs. I just fed them flake and they gulped it all up.
