Three Spot Cichlid

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Okay, here are some pics from last night. Sorry they are not spectacular pics, first the fish would hardly sit still for 2 seconds haha and my camera is a peice of crap...so here is what I got.

I will post more as he gets bigger, right now it does not seem like he wants to eat anything. I have tried flakes, pellets, crushed up pellets, tonight I might try tiny peices of shrimp or get some trout worms or something if I can find them.

The tiny Jag in there with him eats like a horse haha

I forgot to say too, that little yellow/orange spot he has got changes from that color to black sometimes. Sometimes he has a few more spots of black down his side too, but none of that came through last night of course.

I don't know what your fish is but it doesn't even look close to being a Trimac IMO. The spangles on the face made me think JD lol. Here's a pic of mine from Rapps when she was a 2" baby. Granted, Trimac's looks vary from one to another but I just don't see yours as being a pure one whatsoever.

Yeah it looks nothing like yours, I guess I will just have to wait a little while longer till it grows up a bit to get a better idea. Very active fish...hopefully it turns out cool

That is damn-near a trimac. I think I can see some pink over halfway down the side though.

I know what I have Sir---

I just go with the basic answer and say FH....

This fish is a highly debated fish----Even at FHUSA...I got many people that would love to own this specimen....

I suspect I will have a few people now that are going to tell me differently

I see no trimac in that fish....

Your fish actually looks like a Red Jewel Cichlid (Hemichromis sp.)

I bought one from petsmart and one from rapps and when they were small they looked identical but after growout what a difference. rapps is a nice forest green with the 3 spots standing out with no other spot and the petsmart one is a brighter green with more flowers and differently sloped forhead. well thats how they were until i fed my petsmart one to my cariba ps.

I dont see any trimac in that pic but this is what mine looks like at 11"
