Time favorite catfish , many may think they’re bland and just lay around but i think they are very cool the armored chutes down their bodies just looks so awesome to me .. these ancient catfish come from the Orinoco and have been around for millions of years in fact I like them so much this is my third one these pics are the day I brought him home he stayed in a 65gal tall to quarentine for about a month and has since moved to a larger tank if anyone else on here has pics of these awesome catfish feel free to reply with them !

A DREAM fish of mine is the albino and or platinum morph of the pterodoras granulosus they are stunning are rare in the hobby I think they’re mostly coming out of china I just can’t bring myself to pay what they’re going for now maybe one day though !IMG_4634.jpegIMG_4633.jpeg

Cool looking beast cat mate! I had an oxydoras Niger a few years back. They have to cool armored chutes as well. Very cool for a “drab brown” catfish 🤗

There’s an exotic fish shop in the town that I live in and I help the owner take care of all of his fish on Saturdays He has a 3 1/2 foot Odydoras Niger. I’ll definitely send a pic next time I’m over there the fish’s name is Fred. He has been at the pet shop over 30 years. A fish celebrity lollll ,
Do you have any pictures of yours?

Here’s Fred .. the tank that he is in is obviously a bit small for him, but he has been at this pet shop for over 30 years and was sold with the store so they kind of just ended up with him he’s since been moved to a different tank and continues to grow

I found these images on the simply discus forum. This is before I acquired this cool cat. It was very skinny w its previous owner, and living in a busy African cichlids display. I had it in a 125gal w a few CA cichlids for a couple years. He always fed very actively and before too long he outgrew that tank and I moved it on…

They are definitely one of the coolest looking cats , very pretty , one of my favorites is the lince catfish they’re such shark like fish , I found one on here for $375 a couple years ago very small size about 3 inch but I was scared to have it shipped across the country lince catfish literally have to swim fast CONSTANTLY they need lots of swim room during shipping and it probably would’ve cost me more than what the catfish is worth to ship it
