Ticks

I got burnt with the Lymes. I think they lie in wait at fishing spots just hoping I show up. I must have great tasting blood. (ignore that if any of you are vampires.)
 
I've been bit before but ticks haven't been a problem for me since I moved down out of the Rockies. We don't have the same density of brush here or something. I don't go out in the woods as much.

I used to keep firewood for a fireplace, but it was a source of ticks on our dogs, and spiders galore. I finally got rid of the wood, and recently, the fireplace too. I don't think I've seen more that a couple ticks on the dogs in the 20 years since I quit burning wood.
 
We have a feral cat that I have been feeding/sheltering for 2 years. I found an engorged tick on his ear the other day. I'm in a really suburban area but I think either foxes or raccoons are bringing ticks around. Havent seen any up until now, been living there for 12 years.
