Hey Blackwater,

My past and current tig have swam vertical... when, there is no place to shelter it from the other tankmates; aro, rays, turtle, etc. So, I added several large pieces of wood in the corners of the tank for it to chose what area made it feel safe and comfortable. You will notice a difference in its attitude, once you have established a comfort-zone for it. Just my experience with Tigs.

I've even gone a little further and created a shelter... see pics

I like that idea

that shelter idea is nice. i love the way that looks..

btw, tigrinus, that's a nice tig you got there

tigrinis swimming on the glass is a common and normal thing, especially when they are small. once they get big, it doesnt happen too often.

Your rays are absolutly spectacular! What size tank is that?

the tank is 84l x 32w x 30 deep

the tig is not small its 14inch

i find if you give the tig a hiding place it will defend it and if any other fish comes near the tig will kill it

if you have hiding place for the tig and you keep rays with the tig you are asking for trouble as the rays go every were

with no hiding place the tig and rays get on just fine

wow, great looking tig you got there

mine does the exact same thing but he mostly swims up when i turn the light on, as soon as i turn it off he goes down looking for food :)

sweet tig, nice one.

btw has anyone ever seen a full grown one?

Well, I went out and spen $50 for a bunch of slate and built him a nice den. That was two days ago, he doesn't seem to want to go hide in it. I'll give him a wekk, if he doesn't use it, it's coming out because it takes up alot of room. I still may put a black Aro in with him but not sure. I was just afraid that vertical glass swimming was a sign of stress or unhappiness?? He eats like a pig.

look at it this way how the hell is anyone going to be able to provide a hiding place for a 24inch tig

the aro will mix very well with a aro forget the jurence and forget the oscar
