Has anyone attempted Tiger Barbs as dithers? What was your experience, I'm cosnidering putting some Barbs in some of my grow out cichlid tanks, hoping they will take some of the heat off the constant onslaught of aggression between the numersous cichlids I have.... I'm really tired of the skittish Silver Dollars....:nilly:

ive done it, just be sure to get more than 3 and dont be surprised if they end up dead! lol

what fish are you housing them with?

i use tiger barbs in my growout tank. haha they are in with 1-3inch fish. assortment of trimacs, polleni, parrots, texas, and sevs. the barbs seem a little beat up, but haven't lost one yet. tough little fish. they do re-direct aggro from the others. of course when the growouts get bigger then there might be dead barbs. :nilly:

Dithers are technically for bringing out shy fish that hide alot. You need a target fish. What cichlids are together and size?

I ended up going with Black Tetra's, they were twice the size of the Tiger Barbs and .48 each...

haha nice. cannot beat it for 48cents :nilly:

gl on them for targets tho. seem more fragil, but at least they real fast ;)
