tiger barbs with cichlids?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
idk bout keepin them wit larger cichlids...cuz they prob eat them wen they get larger

I think it could work personally. I've got a pair of guppies that grew from fry in my 125 gal (granted, only with sevs) and a couple of very small loach which seem smart enough to get away.

Give it a go, see how it pans out.

Even tinfoils have a hard time, and they are way bigger....No way....I have fed tigers to medium sized cichlids...I have one tinfoil out of a dozen. My snook never even flinched at them. The RT, cons, and fh's did most of the killing...lol The last barb left is very nice looking and has always just been the one they liked....

Didn't work for me with Grammodes. Ate one just flat out killed the rest. But they were not adult sized the were only at 1.5-2". At the time my grammodes was 3-3.5".

i wouldnt trust dithers with snooks... unless the dithers are like 3-4 inch fish. even still, snooks have huge mouths...
why not get something like silver dollars? get some around 3"+ and i think you will be ok.

I've tried 8 tiger barbs with jags and they ate them. It was a 60 gallon with a breeding pair of jags and it didn't work for me.

they're fast enough to avoid a cichlid, and mine only scrap amongst themselves, aside from the occasional chase

but to specify, the larger tiger barbs would be most appropriate for larger cichlids, they have the tiny ones and then the ones that get several inches
