Hey guys just wanted to know if there's a difference between a tiger catfish and a tigrinus...
thanx:headbang2

the answer to your question is both yes and no.

It all depends on what the store or whatever is calling a tiger catfish.
common names dont really mean anything. Its all about the scientific name.

alright... cuz im gettin a tiger catfish shovelnose tomorrow, well thats wat the guys calling it, and i need some info on them and for some reason i cant find a lot online...
any experts willing to help?

I have seen LFS's call Lima's by tiger shovel nose also...

i have a 177 gallon tank... i guess it should be enough for a while. can u guys tell me a bit about it... if its aggresive, wat it eats... cuz im getting it in a couple of hours.

A 177 is not going to b big enough...It should b ok for like 6-8 months tho....How big is the 1 ur getting?
They eat pretty much anything...Pellets, krill, worms, fish fillets...I feed mine froz krill, tilapia, and bloodworms. They are very greedy eaters...They usually like to eat only when the lights are out..Especially when they r little...I have trained mine to eat with the lights on tho..It's not hard to do, as long as u have some aggressive eating tankmates...I don't find mine to be really aggressive yet..He's about 8" right now and does not bother any other tankmates...However they will eat any fish that can fit into their mouths so b careful when choosing tankmates.
Good luck with it.
