Ive read different things partaining to tiger cowries. ive heard that theyre reef safe, not reef safe, will eat anemones and soft corals, etc.

ive only got some ricordea and rhodactis shrooms and some zoas in my tank, and will probably never have anything more then shrooms and zoas.

my question is, will a tiger cowrie be able to live in my tank without eating my corals, and if so, what should i feed it if i choose to get one? I already feed the tank freeze dried krill once and sometimes twice daily.

cowies... I remember my old one... I still have his shell!

Anyways... you can trust him with the zoos, the shrooms... just be wary if they start dissapearing. Feed him algae, it works the best. Some little tiny of tiny slices of meaty foods is okay.

my tank is overrun with algae at the moment, so thats not a problem. i think im gonna get a cowrie along with a sea hare to get rid of this algae, then bring the sea hare back to the lfs and keep the cowrie to keep the algae down. i may get some other snails as well.

I would not get both...A sea hare would be just fine on its own...just remember that once its done its job, you will have to provide the food source for it...I know a few who use a seahare and pass it on too a fellow reefer, purely just too do a cleanup job of hair algae...just moves from reefer too reefer...lol....

i was thinking about passing the sea hare on to one of my friends when im done with it.
only problem is, my friend sells fish, inverts, and supplies and his tanks are spotless anyways lol.

so, no cowrie then.
but after the sea hare has finished the job im gonna get some snails to keep algae down.
so, how often do astrea snails fall over and need to be picked up off the ground?
