Tiger Fish not eating live food...

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
shrimp prawns maybe small amounts of beefheart anything but feeders

There stands the problem, I have other fish in the tank that will only eats pellets...I am thinking about spliting everyone into seperate tanks based on feeder friendly vs pellets only.

It's not unreasonable to want to feed feeders once in a while. Any of the larger predators hitting a feeder is a magnificent sight and in moderation there's nothing wrong with feeding live. Esp after dropping the $$$ for an ATF only to not see it's near legendary dentition in action.

I really don't have any input other than this is in fact an issue for the OP and not a blessing.

This is probably a good thing

I still don't see the problem in this....Unless you only got the ATF in hopes of seeing feeders ripped to shreds....Why he's not eating the feeders and eating the pellets is two simple things 1.) Pellets don't go anywhere therefore less energy wasted 2.) Secondly would you rather have a peice of Steak with Carbs and Nutrients or a Potatoe chip? (Steak being Pellet Chip being feeder)

As mine is used to eating non live sometimes they take a little time to hit the occasional feeder I give them. Rest assured getting them to eat live feeders is a whole lot easier than the other way around. Just leave the feeder in the tank he'll eventually feel the natural urge and devour it. After he gets the taste for live again you may have a little trouble getting back on non live.

This is really a silly thread. Let it eat pellets. If you want to breed feeders then throw them in there, then thats fine. Dont get your panties in a bunch if it doesnt eat them. A "feeder friendly" tank is the strangest and most opposite idea that I have ever heard.

What are your Armatus' eating? I agree I just bought a red tail payara today, and i'm worried about getting him to convert him over to frozen krill, and eventually or possibly pellets. I am anticipating a long and frustrating battle. The LFS was feeding them feeders.

Like everyone said, it is best not to feed feeders. My big boy pays no mind to feeders... any size. He goes bonkers on pellets n raw market shrimp

Plus your guy is probly around the size when feeders go down with no fight. My guy still rough's up large shrimp like the old days (feeders)
