greetings, i recently bought myself a pair of freshwater tiger morays and ever since the first 4 days, i haven’t seen them. likely they are hiding in the logs but they haven’t been coming out or eating. i’ve thrown in bloodworms which is what they were eating previously along with other foods, no results though. it’s been over a week and im getting worried, thoughts?

It sounds like it's time to search the tank to see if they're hiding. Check behind rocks and search the logs. Also take a look on the floor if the tank is uncovered. What is sold as a freshwater moray are actually found near estuaries, and occasionally go into freshwater to feed. They really should have some marine salt in the water, and actually require closer to full marine water as they age. It's always good to do research when you acquire a new fish that you are not familiar with. They could survive a few hours on the floor, but not much longer. If you ever find them dry and covered with dust, as long as they have only been out a few hours just throw them back in the tank and a lot of times they will recover. I hope you find your eels. I have seen in a few YouTube posts that the Tiger Moray eel is a true freshwater eel. I would really need to do a bit more research into this before I accept what the transhippers say.

It does appear that the tiger moray eel (Gymnothorax polyuranodon), is the only true species that has adapted to living and spawning in a full freshwater environment.
