today was my day for being given free aquaria first i was given a free 90 gallon tank with stand that needs to be resiliconed then i was given a free oscar 7-8" that has spent the first 3 years of its life in a 29 gallon aquarium.

such a sad life cooped up in a 29 gal. hope it starts growing again but im afraid it wont

aww poor guy.... good luck!!!!!!!

he is a beast in my tank but not being overly aggressive towards my other fish. he was laying on his side in the 30 gal. rubbermaid tub that i put him in while i was dealing with my pond. i thought he was severly depressed so i introduced him to his new tank, he laid on the bottom for all of 2 minutes and then started cruising around like he was hot ****. now he looks like he was raised in my 55 hes so comfortable. feeding time so now ill find out just how comfortable he is.

Oscars are underrated. Very cool personalities.

Oscar's have been one of the only mainstay fish in the hobby for over 30 years for a reason - best fish out there for the average joe...but then average joe's don't sit around on internet forums.

I've got a 13" tiger in my 180 and he's priceless - while I treasure my more exotic fish over him, I still enjoy him a lot.

i got a "normal" oscar hes got tiger stripes on his fins and has gold/white tiger body stripes idk hes depressed usually he comes out and talks with me idk why but my fish are jusst bein jumpy latly i think its cuz i threw some rosies in the tank for my other fish. i like him hes afraid when i make quick moves but if i sit there for 20 mins he comes up and just eye balls me. but my pike cichlid (tank boss) choked on 2 rosies so now the jag is the boss and acting like a true jag(their in a 55 and he wont any1 cross half of it) so i think hes gettin bullied again

your a really great fish keeper.
i'm glad you gave him a tank he deserves.
he looks great though.
measure him today and then next month measure him again
and notify us if he grew at all.
i'd like to see his growth if theres any.

he is 7 1/2 inches long counting tail, a little big for a 55 still but its a whole hell of alot better than a 29. plus once i get my 90 ready to go he'll go in there with my pike that i also have in the 55 with him. as long as the pike doesnt get mean with size they should be able to be tank mates and ill be able to put my midas and red devil in with them too.
