tiger oscar in a 29 gallon

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
petco has a very large pair up for adoption that got too big for someone they want $10 each as a donation to go toward helping animals find suitable homes. once i get my 90 established if there still there im gonna get them.

A 90g will be a great home for your oscar a lot better than the 29g he was in. The 55g your oscar is in now would be ok for him for awhile though. Be careful housing your oscar with an rd and midas. The oscar may ge beaten down. My oscar lost his eye to my rd.

the oscar will stay in the 55 if he doesnt grow anymore cause the stuff in the 90 is gonna be pretty tough. he spent 3 years in the 29 gal so who knows if hes gonna grow anymore.

update. i bought some frozen raw shrimp last night and my buddy the oscar chowed down also ate some blood worms. very happy to say that he made a great transition to my tank from his cell.

I'm guessing he grows for you. I doubt he'll get to be a max size 14"+ monster, but I'm pretty sure he'll get bigger than he is. Keep us updated, I'm curious to see how he does in a new home.

Oscars are my all-time favorite, hands down. There'll never be another fish species I like better. Far too underrated and unappreciated IMO. Good for you rescuing him and it's so nice to hear he's going into a 90 gal. Most forums recommend 55 gal minimum for an Oscar yet in the same breath they'll tell you any other kind of foot long fish 'needs' a 75/90 gal. That never made sense to me because Oscars are the messiest eaters and need more 'moving around room' that most other foot long fish.

Good luck with him.Always loved oscars, theres a reason they are so popular. Its cause they are so much fun!

I'm also a huge Oscar lover. mnine is he only reason I got involved in the hobby.

He's in a 90 with a JD and con and rules the tank. He's constantly making me laugh.

Oscar was my first fish i ever owned over 20yrs ago and to this day after all the cichlids i've been through the oscar remains the top 5 on my fav list.
