A bigger filter will work just as good. And will not be eaten by the oscar.

Your the one asking if you can add ghost shrimp, cray fish, snails, etc in to a tank with oscars.

How big is the tank?
Whats your filtration like?
Tank mates?
What type of inverts/fish are looking for to clean the tank?

All these questions play a pretty good when asking, what you can put with messy eaters. ;)

Oscars eating filters, eh?

Hmm, I wouldn't put it past an O giving it a go...

Yeah my Oscars (Oscar :( ) will destroy any inanimate object in the tank they can. They seemed to like other fish well enough though. As long as they wouldn't fit in their mouths and were fast. My GT on the other hand tried to destroy every living thing, managing to kill one Oscar (3x his size) before I could remove the GT from the tank. I miss that Oscar, had him for 3 years and he was over 12" long. What great fish, just make sure you have a big enough tank. They grow really fast.

we have 4 pictus catfish and a pleco, a Clown Knife and a couple sunfish in with ours and they do a good job cleaning leftovers also a bala or rainbow shark would be fine as well... you have many options!

2 Oscars need a minimum of a 100 g tank (although my preference would be a 125 g), that's when they're adults. If you had a 125 g you could put in 3-5 Silver Dollars and they're awesome at picking up the scraps that shoot out the Oscar's gills (which I call 'spewings'). There's no sense getting Loaches unless they're at least 5-6" now. The Oscars will grow an inch a month until they're 10" or so and will eat any Loach that can fit in its mouth. Your best bet at this point (unless they're in a 125 g tank) is just to syphon more often.
Disclaimer: Don't be too sure your Oscar won't eat your filter. I put nothing past them.
