Tiger Salamanders!!!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Amazing :Dbut dont try to keep the offspring neotenic, it can have fatal consequences:grinno: Its a fluke for that to happen;)

Indeed. The only way I could try to keep them neotenic is by keeping the offspring in the basement, INDIVIDUALLY. Neotenic Tiger Sallies tend to be cannibalistic. Anecdotally, I have heard that neotenic sallies come in two morphs, one cannibalistic, one not.

I have a blue spotted salamander. Thing never comes out of its hole, its fun though when u see it

I just need me to find a more active not so shy sally!

ITHURTZ- amazing species. I love the blue spotted, but I think the most beautiful Ambystoma is the marbled salamander. They are protected here in CT, so I have no chance of getting any.

I love your Tiger Salamanders, the markings are incredible. I hope they do mate for you. How does that work? Do you put them in an aquarium mostly filled with water?

ITHURTZ's Blue Spotted Salamander is very cool, too. How big will it get?

Here in Oregon all terrestrial salamanders are illegal, but I've been looking into getting an Axolotl.

I attached a couple photos of a Pacific Giant Salamander (Dicamptodon tenebrosus) I ran across in the woods. They are the world's largest terrestrial salamander, though they don't come anywhere close to the giant aquatic salamanders in China (or even the Hellbender, for that matter). Terrestrial adults have a 7 1/2" snout-vent length and a 13" overall length. Neotenic adults reach around 14".

Notice the car keys in the first photo to get a good idea of how bulky this guy was.

cool sally man
we get salamnders in my basement every so often and lately my brothers girlfriend was scared by one and she kicked it
but hes ok now, Ill try to post some picks soon
we usually find blue spotted or yellow spotted ones

Nice tigers look like barred. Ive had a couple around 14inches the grey ones and barred. They get so big and as they get older the yellow brightens my favorite land salamander. I just got rid of 20. Look for tigers with more yellow you'll really get hooked.
