Tiger Shovel nose Catfish not eating

Wow, the fish rescue frontliner ?, Ivan (I gather that's your name). Very impressive checklist. I'm quite certain my wife cannot come up with such complete list to give any room to doubt even if I'm caught cheating. I just copied and saved as my reference checklist shall I need it next. Very solid checklist.

Yeah, if I note any behaviour out of the norm, I'd want to rule out water parameters first as wrong parameters can end your pet's life fairly quickly if not attended to. General rule is are all the fishes not eating or just your new pet? But don't bother about answering my questions, get the list done, you'll have your answers. Hope all goes well with your new pet.
Viktor is the name.

Thank you. The Founding Father has not been impressed by my effort to put the list together.

Oopsie, this is embarrassing. I apologise, Viktor. Sorry to exchange greetings on someone's thread, I'm CY, from Malaysia.

Well, we aren't sure what level of fish keeping is the OP at, and it may be impolite to assume. I remember when I started off, it can be daunting just trying to understand the science of water parameters. But once we understand that, I would think it's hard to argue water parameters are the most fundamental building block before advancing further in this hobby.

Then next area where I want to be sure I am at bare minimum capable of, would be ability to identify diseases, at least the common ones.

I would think these two should be bare minimum things to understand so that we could keep our pets alive. Moving to intermediate or more advanced, lots of readings is something hard to avoid in order to know how to give our fishes the least stress.

Your list is very impressive. I love your list as it's applicable to both beginners or more advanced hobbyists just the same. More experienced keepers are probably able to immediately identify problems causing any stress, but the list can still serve as a checklist in case we may have neglected minor things that didn't cross our minds. It's good to note that even the most advanced hobbyists would still have lost fishe(s) mostly through these minor things we thought we had them covered.
