Why can't they have lined up all eight of the species (alive not dried) and use pointy arrows to show us their differences and how to tell them apart. I hate to read all this research and in the end still need an x ray and measuring tape to distinquish them.

In the end, I still can't look at pics of a TSN and say which species it is. Heck, most of the TSNs we get here are farm bred from one region. I don't think we can even get our hands on other species.

Pseudoplatystoma reticulatum
Pseudoplatystoma punctifer is known from the Amazon River drainage and the distinctive colur pattern consisting of loop-like dark bars forming a reticulate pattern easily disnguishes it from congeners.
