I've seen a picture of a wild caught TSN that was nearly as long as the person holding them. Over 4' is a certain possibility and I have seen them in the 30" - 36" range at some public aquariums.

Thats NOT a TSN in the picture its a Pseudoplatystoma corruscans which grow larger.
36 inches would be the average adult size in a large Aquarium.
 
Haha yea I was gonna question that pic too... actually looks a lot like a larger version of my rtc x tsn but yea they can get up to 4 feet given the right environment. But they do grow a bit slower the rtc's so you have sometime to upgrade (i don't actually know the size of your tank so don't backlash...)
