Tigers rays with Gar is it smart to do!!!!

guys i have some 4 inch fl gar in my pond today is ok to do? i love my tigers and they are prefect..... will they be ok together?

Yeah, as long as you think they won't go after the gar, it should be fine.

I have no experience in this matter......however, it makes me nervous.

Gar have a mouthful of teeth that could do some damage. They may not go after their tails but they could do some disc damage if forced to defend themselves.

I would keep away from the mix, just to be safe.

havent tried this mix either. But gars are docile so it would probably work.
Ive seen it on japanese magazines.. rays and gars co existing.

I dont keep gars but I know in fishing that gars strike ANYTHING. Hell the best bait is a piece of rope as it gets tangled in their teeth while a hook cannot penetrate! Saying this I would be afraid that a passing ray tail may seem like a meal for the fish and he might strike out of reflex damaging your precious tiger!

I have kept a gar with a ray in tank for short term (one year) and not a single problem. NEVER. Neither had any interest in the other.

Michael has like 4 gars in with his rays in a 300gl. You should pm him about his experience with gars and rays, if he doesn't post here.
