I bought 10 tiger barbs as dithers for my snakehead, but I found them quite interesting when they travel together in one tight-knit group. My snakehead is too slow so those barbs will live for the meantime.

Question is, what other freshwater fish swim/travel in groups?

For example, I remember rummynose tetras as being on the top of the list of tight schoolers. What else stays in schools?

Interesting question. i would like to know the answer too.
i have Cyps and they do school but not tight.

we will see

I had a group of Congo Tetras that were pretty on point...when one turned the others followed immediately.

filament barbs are pretty tight group. sometimes the odd one loses its way but it aint alone for long.

Most fish that potentially school with stick in a tight school if constantly threatened by a frigging snakehead :D

ive notice most barbs will school well. but not all tetras go together so tightly there always a few wonderers. cardinals school well in a large group. clown loaches are schoolers too but they need a HUUUGGGGEE tank for a large bundle of those cute guys :D

Yea lol that's true. Neon Tetras,Rasboras,Tetras in general.

I think its really gotta depend on who the tankmates are. I have 6 tetras in a pretty frienldy community tank and they go all over the place alone. Probably cuz no one gives them a hard time at all
