Hey Fish Heads---I have a 6-inch Tigrinis that I'm trying to put some size on. He will eat earthworms, pieces of cut-up shrimp, but I'm wondering about commercial foods. He will mouth a cichlid pellet, but won't eat it. Is there a good "meaty" type of prepared food that you like for catfish? Something I can supplement in with the other foods when I don't have time to prepare shrimp, etc. Thanks for any advice.

Just a guess on my part, but a lot of cichlid foods contain a fair amount of plant matter to cater to the varying degrees of herbivorous appetites among many assorted cichlids. I would think the Tigrinus would be more carnivorous in preference, so perhaps something like Massivore or North Fin Carnivore or other pellets geared towards predatory fish would be more appealing to it?
Maybe soaking the pellets for a short time in thaw water from frozen brine shrimp or bloodworms might make them even more tempting to a scent hunter like a catfish.
