I have a 9" tig that i recently moved to a new tank that has some other bigger fish like a 12" gatf, 10" golden dorado, 12" juruense, 12" giraffe cat, 8" ebh, 6" silver dollars, 8" granulated cat. I see the tig constantly swimming up in a stationary position whole day against the side of the tank and is not eating? Does this mean that the tig is stressed or is it just him still adjusting to his new environment? He was in a 75gal growout tank before and he's only done the swimming up against the glass a few times. And when i first got him he already started eating the first day

I have a baby one around 6 inch and he did the exact same thing for about a week and wouldn’t eat for almost 10 days! Now he’s fine so I wouldn’t worry yet. From what I’ve been told though you won’t be able to keep the tig and the jur in the same tank

I've already had him for 2 months now from 6" he already grew to 9". I was wondering cause when he was in the 75gal before he only did that the first day and he eventually stopeed and ate already. Thats why im kinda worried.

Ive read that here also but I know someone who has a jur and a tig in the same tank

Strange, mine was like it from day 1, just constantly swimming up the back of the tank but after about 2 weeks he’s quite calm now, it will be interesting to see what happens when he goes into the big tank... I have no experience so it’s only what I’ve heard on here as well, good luck, I hope it works out for you. Keep us posted on here I’m interested to know lol

as for how he’s acting I would just offer his favourite food at night every other day and look to see if he has a full belly in the morning, I’m sure after a couple of weeks it will be ok like mine was

Well you just moved it to a new tank it had to settle in. Wouldn't worry.

What's ebh?

Chances are, as Moe said, it is a bit stressed by the move and is adjusting. It is possible that it is being bullied too - those are boisterous tank mates, especially by the jur. Yes, we know of a few examples of tig-jur successful cohab, even long term, but these appear to be rare exceptions. It is prudent to count on rules, not exceptions.

The behavior in the prior tanks needs not translate into new tanks as each tank's different, the fish's different too - it grew some. Plus we usually don't know how, where, and with who our fish had been kept before they got to us and what they were fed, etc. I mean those can be good pointers that your fish ate quickly and adjusted well to your first tank. But it doesn't offer any assurance it will be the same in your second tank for it.

He's been doing that for about a whole straight day now even when i turn the lights off, he does swim around the tank but he only patrols the sides of the tank and is still swimming upwards

Emperor blue hook :)

I dont know about the jur bullying him though cause the jur doesnt move to much even when the tig is in his space he doesnt bother the tig. I just hope that he's still adjusting to his new environment cause its been a day since he started swimming upwards and he still hasnt changed. He's probably doing that cause he doesnt have a place to hide in the tank

lol that's good that he's branching out. Others have experienced the same thing. Nothing to worry about yet. I'd advise to keep moving as you usually would. Best thing to do as to not worry is ignore the tig honestly. Only look for tattered fins to be sure no one is bullying it. Aside from that I'd say it should be fine for two weeks if not longer before needing to eat.
