TIGRINUS DEAD =-(

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
My condolences, bro... damn!! that sucks!! :(

What did their main staple diet consist of? And did you let them fasten before feeding them another round again?? :uhoh:

sorry for your loss.. those are great tigs.. it really is a pain to see those beautiful tigs go and for having them for so long... :( at first when i saw the first one with the bump i though maybe it had bump it's head too much on something. infection.. is out of the line since their was no puss.. did it smell bad though? on the second one.. it needs some investigation on it. here are the question you can follow and see maybe something went wrong:

What was the last food?
was the last food the same as the first one and the second one?
did both fish live in one tank?
if yes maybe their is something in the tank or water?
when was your last w/c?
anything new you added in the tank?
anything new outside the house (environment-chemical sprays or whatsoever)?
any meds, additives...?

it's really hard to think what went wrong.. since they are fish and we can't analyze them the way humans are.:(
sorry for your loss:(
if i were you i would take the 3rd tig and put it on a new treated water with established filter. might as well try it rather than have another problem.:(

My Tigs feed every other day. Total of 3 feedings in a week of beefheart or shrimp. They always swell up (bellys after feeding) but soon digest and return to normal size.

All my other FISH is fine ????? I just actually cut up a piece of Beefheart and fed a little to my last TIG and he ate it ???? so no loss of appetite ?????

Below are pictures taken around the end of June... You can see they did not have the BUMP on the head

As for water flow I have close to 6000 GPH circulating through my 600 Gallon. Extra airstones in my sump
and and an extra Rio Pump inside my tank for circulation. Through the summer months I always add extra aeration in my tanks cause of the heat in So.Cal.

My PH has always been the same between 7.5-80. I've grown one of my 5" Tig to 12+" in the same tank and water chemistry.

I checked inside the gills for any swelling or discoloration and nothing ? it's red. No heavy breathing or any signs of distress ??????? Only thing obvious is the BUMP on the head.

I feel the worst is not over, I'm afraid my last TIG will not make it through the night. I feel so helpless...sucks to think when I wake up tommorow morning my 3rd TIG could be dead

hopefully we can see what is the cause... a disease only tigs have? like the datnoids have their own type of disease that no other fish has. i feel the pain their.. from a baby to adult and just boom dead... that is one deep wound. if we only know how to cure it... i'm trying to think why it swelled up... on humans it can be caused by any infection in the head or any trauma... it's really hard to say. was the head bump mushy? or firm? mushy might be a head trauma or worst if it swolen up it might be infection.. but it should have pus or some malodorus smell though. sorry we can't help you on that... wish those tigs didn't die. those are fortune to keep.:(
