Tigrinus looks thin

Well id cycle the tank before introducing the tig so I need to find something asap. Id need a few days to a week to cycle the tank properly and bring the water in line before I can move him.

Ive sold the discus and the geophagus last night so that cleared out 11 tankmates so im down to:

4 parrot
4 clown loaches
2 motoros
2 flag tail
And the tigrinus

I doubt this is the cause of your problem but I think your water temp is pretty high. From what I remember tigs enjoy slightly cooler water.

I scored a solid 35 gallon with stand and eheim canister filter for 50 bucks tonight. Got it set up and will start cycling asap. He will be lone fish in this tank for the next few months and ill post progress on his health and return to the bigger tank with the rest of his buddies.

It says on their care sheet they like 74-81°. So since your moving it alone ill try lowering the temp to mid to high 70's and see if that helps.
 
Tank is cycling as we speak but water is still cloudy.

Doing a goldfish cycle right now but im afraid for the tig.

His gills look really red today like blood red. Ive got him eating tilapia over the past little while that has been soaked in garlic juice. He seems to love it. Goes after it as soon as it hits the bottom.

Prognosis anyone?

I would do a mix of one part tilapia, one part salmon and one part raw shrimp. Cut it small enough to eat easily and soak it in garlic juice. feed him all he will eat and he should fatten right up, if he is otherwise healthy and not overly stressed.
 
A photo may help but normally gills should be very red, now if the gill cover is getting too thin and transparent from emaciation, that's different.

Do you mean he ate for you recently or you was it a while ago that you are describing?
