When I say they need pristine conditions I mean they aren't as hardy as say an Oscar for example, the water quality needs to be perfect!

For a 2incher im ready to pay that money... but for a mere 4" paying $440... which can be achieved in no time is just way over the top for me....
I bought mine at 7" for $220 from RiverWonders, CA (shipped). I've heard of better deals but not by much (like $150 for a 5") and rarely. 3" fish in Western and Central NY goes for about $250-$300. 10"-12" in FL (Snookn21) is about $700.
I bought my 3" for 90 and must say it is a catfish so it is hardy and unlike oscars who redbellypiranha thinks can live in poor water they are not prone to disease when conditions are poor. I would check shark aquarium George has had many batches at below 200. Also what vendor has fish from 4" to 7" that is a wide range of size
Good point,the vendors here offer good prices on them for their sizes,when they bring them in.I would wait out one of the vendors or pick one up in a private sale rather than get ripped off at a LFS...I think CROWE has a twenty plus incher for about seven hundred dollars,now that's not bad if you have the disposable cash on hand and the lodgings for the tig.
Do your own research on the seller's reputation but these guys are offering an unbelievable deal: they wanna unload quickly sixteen 8-10 inch Tigrinus Catfish - $120 each including shipping and LOA guarantee.
