My 10" Tig has red in base of his tail as well as some veins are showing in his caudual fins. I assume that this is from ammonia, but I have never had an ammonia reading other than 0. Tanks is bare bottom with sponge filter and powerhead for flow. water changed 10-15% 2 to 3 times a week. pH stable at 7, temp at 81.

good question, I just got a tig last week and he has some red in his tail fin when i received him, he was shipped so possibly ammonia, or just stress.???

the catfish in question also is missing scales/skin (scaless so skin I guess) on his lateral line. Initally I thought that it was from him wedging beside a piece of wood, but it seems to be atypical to that in that it is on both sides and follows his lateral line rather well. also some loss on his head area.

Does he looks like the pics below ? Same thing happened to my Big Tigrinus. It ended up being a huge amount of arsenic was found in the water in my office. My Aro was dying until I took him home, use my an RO water and was able to nurse him back to health...
