I've always had problems keeping these guys due to bizarre circumstances. They are like a fish tank bad luck charm for me. I love these guys, but I don't know if I will ever own one again.
I lost three tigs (a ton of other fantastic plecos and catfish) to an fuse blowing on an outlet in a completely different room. It was the middle of the night, nothing was plugged into the outlet with the blown fuse, we were asleep, the electricity in the house was absolute minimum, and it managed to kill all the following outlets on the breaker. We had a $300 a month electric bill in a 695 sq ft apt, so we had always suspected that one of our neighbors was somehow wired into one power. This happened just a couple weeks after a new neighbor moved in downstairs. I suspect he plugged something in for the first time, and caused this. We never proved this, but ended up moving instead.
The next tig, who as 9 inches of AMAZING, died from an ammonia spike that was caused by a Datnoid who suddenly started taking and spitting food behind a pipe when he was too full to eat it.
So, yeah. 4 Tigs later, I'm not in any way wanting to deal with more right now.
That fx5 is currently not running..when i tile the tank this week he wont be able to fit under there...and there is no way his big ass is gonna get sucked in there =p
