That fx5 is currently not running..when i tile the tank this week he wont be able to fit under there...and there is no way his big ass is gonna get sucked in there =p

I agree. I would think he's way too big to go in there even if he tried. Besides, I have yet to have either my fx5's prefilter grate fall off, even with the big cats.

Well then your lucky in that department. I've had my lrger fish knock them off ton's of times till I permanently fixed them with zipties. I've lost a lot of fish in fx-5 intakes when the bigger fish knock them off.

my tsns all have knocked the grate of my fx5....one time they did it my yellow bullhead got sucked in head first...(it didn't make it)
